About

My interest in art and drawing started when l began Primary School. l always took on every artistic or creative project with a passion. As a teenager and into my twenties l enjoyed dabbling with acrylics, painting colourful landscapes and buildings. After a break during the busy time of bringing up children, l came across a local artist in her late 80's. She was giving art lessons in a large studio at the bottom of her lovely cottage garden. This was a studio with a lot history. Yolanda and her late husband, both artists, had worked and conducted lessons there for many years. The studio was full of their amazing artwork and an array of dried flowers, seed pods and interesting things from nature to inspire students. I soaked in the creative atmosphere with joy. This is where my passion for drawing from nature developed. I'm very grateful for those lessons with her. l mainly use pencil in my artwork as I love the contrast, shading and detail I can achieve. I also enjoy using ink to produce different tones and effects and add some colour.
